What is a Heat Interface Unit (HIU)?

Instead of each home having it's own boiler, a communal heating network operates by gas being transferred into heat from a single location (communal plant room). The heat is then delivered by specialist pipework through the building to individual homes via the HIU providing you with heating and hot water.

Your HIU is a box located in the utility cupboard in your home that looks like a boiler.
