Why is the height of a building important?

When building heights are discussed, it tends to be because additional measures are required in a new building for them to comply.

Since the Grenfell tragedy, a lot of emphasis has been made on buildings over 18m. The new Building Safety legislation is expected to be aimed at buildings over 18m or that are more than six storeys.

Buildings below 18m may still require an inspection. However, they are considered lower risk by the government.
